News from Insurance News Net:

Philadelphia, PA — (ReleaseWire) — 04/13/2015 — The Bachmann-Zeitlin Insurance Agency provides automobile, homeowners, renters, boat, life and flooding insurance to Pennsylvania residents. Their fully licensed insurance agency strives to provide the best policies at the most affordable rates, coupled with unsurpassed customer service. As the weather warms and PA boat owners start itching to get on the water, the Bachmann-Zeitlin Insurance Agency wants to remind everybody that optional insurance policies, such as life insurance and boat insurance in Bucks County, are just as important as car insurance and health insurance.

While vehicle owners are legally obligated to carry insurance policies with minimum liability requirements in most states, there are no such obligations for boat owners to insure a pleasure boat. If that’s not surprising, then let’s add some statistics to the mix. According to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission…………… continues on Insurance News Net

Fortunately, most of the benefits are aligned with those for vehicles, with one caveat. Repairing or replacing a damaged boat can be tremendously expensive, often costing multiple times more than the average car repair. This is especially true for boat owners who do not live near an experienced boat repair shop, as the transportation costs can quickly reach hundreds of dollars. Don’t wait until after an accident happens and the costs are mounting to purchase Philadelphia boat insurance, let the Bachmann-Zeitlin Insurance Agency provide protection before it’s too late.

Jumping on their soapbox to make sure boat owners no longer have an informational disadvantage, the agency announces the benefits of buying one of their policies. As the weather becomes more and more pleasant, boat owners will begin to slip their watercraft into the Delaware River and the Atlantic coast’s bays and waterfront locations, intent on a relaxing c…………… continues on Digital Journal

Insurance Risk and Ruin

Based on the author’s experience of teaching final-year actuarial students in Britain and Australia, and suitable for a first course in insurance risk theory, this book focuses on the two major areas of risk theory – aggregate claims distributions and ruin theory. For aggregate claims distributions, detailed descriptions are given of recursive techniques that can be used in the individual and collective risk models. For the collective model, different classes of counting distribution are discussed, and recursion schemes for probability functions and moments presented. For the individual model, the three most commonly applied techniques are discussed and illustrated. Care has been taken to make the book accessible to readers who have a solid understanding of the basic tools of probability theory. Numerous worked examples are included in the text and each chapter concludes with exercises, which have answers in the book and full solutions available for instructors from www.cambridge.org/9780521846400.

Bayport woman accused of embezzling from insurance agency

Bayport woman accused of embezzling from insurance agency
News from Pioneer Press:

The co-owner of a Stillwater insurance agency is accused of bilking the business out of more than $ 130,000 and using the money for personal purposes, according to charges filed last week.

Carol Lynn Greethurst, 51, of Bayport was charged March 13 with one count of felony theft by swindle.

An employee of the Kathy SchoebbornAtkins Farmer’s Insurance agency called Stillwater police in July about the possible theft of business funds, according to a criminal complaint. The employee believed Greethurst had been “embezzling money from the insurance company by using her position within the company as the accountant to swindle $ 136,482.63 over a period from January of 2010 to July 2013.”

Investigators said an audit showed Greethurst had obtained the funds by padding her paychecks, withdrawing funds from the business’ line of credit and “receiving false reimbursements through payroll withholding,” the complaint said.

Greethurst allegedly used the ill-gotten money “to pay for boat slips and personal credit cards and expenses,” including insurance.

She does not appear to have a criminal record in Minnesota.

A message left for Greethurst Monday was returned by a man who said, “We will not be making any comments.”

Greethurst’s first court appearance is scheduled for May 1.

Elizabeth Mohr can be reached at 651…………… continues on Pioneer Press
